You're gonna learn this stuff !

After having struggled with Kanji, which posed the only real stumbling block to being able to read Japanese literature (or to efficiently get around in Japan), I came across this little book. Initially, I really did not think I was absorbing any of it but then ... while at work one day and having nothing better to do (O.K., I'm the director so I can do anything I want), I happened on a fantabulous website: [...]
where I took a flash card-type test. Yes, indeed! I aced the equivialent of the Japanese 6th form! How could I possibly have recalled all those ideograms? And I was less than half way through the book! One can quite easily run through this book in under a month, however, being the busy sort, I was only able run through the tutorials at bedtime ... a few pages at a time before nodding off ... paying little attention at first to the On and Kuhn pronunciations. You should save that extra effort for another time. First prepare to recognize the pictographs. That takes most of the memorization effort out of the 'picture,' so to speak. Then, all you'll have left are the sounds (and you almost don't really require these as they are not always used in spoken vocabulary but mostly in the written form (and often, these are accompanied by Furikana, completely eliminating the need). Although there are few more than 400 Kanji in this text, these are among the most practical Kanji to know and I see them everywhere I look. The final 14 pages of 'Today' is, alone, worth the price of the book. The next book to use is "Essential Kanji" (P.G. O'Neill). This may be used simultaneously with 'Jap. Today' and covers more territory but is organized in a more detailed, summary-type format and may be carried around for practical review. It covers 2,000 characters , is remarkably easy to use and serves as your constant guide until you feel you have mastered the idiom. When you no longer have use for "Essential...," you also will have little use for a Kanji dictionary. The third and last book to have around is "Kanji ABC" (Foerster & Tamura). This is a really terrific text based on the 'radical/grapheme' concept and lends a new visual dimension to the task of memorization that allows one not only to read Kanji effortlessly but to derive a meaning from a character or compound that one has not previously encountered. This book is also a must! In my experience, these are the only three books you will need to master this intensely difficult area of the language. I do have the Kanji Flashcards but have always found them rather cumbersome. Don't forget to tune into the above mentioned website. You won't be sorry. It's the best of the Kanji/Kana practice sites I have ever encountered on the Internet.

What a great way to pick up your first Kanji! these will probably be the most useful ones to know. I just wish there were stroke-order information. Heisig gives that, so you will need to read his books too, but this is a good starting method.

Not good....

This book is bad.
In equation developments, it uses cartesian coordinates in a funky way. It changes them! This might not be a problem, but this book uses coordinate systems that don't follow the right-hand rule. For me this was very disturbing, because throughout my education the right-hand rule for coordinate systems was God's word.
Another thing is the example problems. When the book shows you the solution, it jumps right into numbers, without even showing you the symbolic development, or what numbers represent what variables. It expects you to infer this from the units!
N.B. I've only read the first 50 pages or so of this book, and my frustration led me to write this review. My opinions aren't supported with a complete sense of the book. Then again, the fact that even the elementary, development part of the book frustrates me could show just how bad this book will become in the latter parts.

“The Future Never Gives Up“ written at the age of six is an introduction to Ilia’s perception of the universe. Considered by experts as the youngest philosopher in the world, Ilia has dictated over two thousand philosophical aphorisms and poems comprising ten books being released in 2011.

The series are a complete spiritual progression in the album of quest for truth: on one end—questioning purposeful existence all the way to another end where life is seen as a unified breathing, feeling and thinking organism whose God is eternal, and we as individual co-creators belonging to one big whole God of reality and illusions. For Ilia, experiencing God is experiencing all of existence and all of its infinite possibilities.

According to him, God is inseparable from each and every creation, be it a pebble, a child, a mineral or dimension.

He sees beings able to experience lives and their outcomes simultaneously and that each action creates a domino affect into infinity, producing infinite other possible actions and reactions in different quantum realities.

In other words, no matter what we do, we, as spiritual beings, always have a chance to change everything, by ‘editing’ time and living multiple experiences, yet at all times retaining our own unique personality within what Ilia calls a Divine Matrix.

In his perspective, it is only through participating in all life that we can truly understand God and ourselves.

Poor song choices

If you're going to do an authentic guitar tablature book for Michael Jackson, wouldn't it be a good idea to choose the songs that contain predominantly guitar parts? Where's Give Into Me, Whatever Happens, D.S. or Come Together? Those songs have some excellent guitar parts that would've been far more rewarding to play than many of the songs listed in this book - some of which hardly contain any guitar parts at all.

Couldn't they have put a bit more effort into this? Michael Jackson had some of the worlds finest guitarists feature on his music (the likes of Carlos Santana, Eddie Van Halen and Slash). But aside from Beat It (which you can find guitar TAB for anywhere on the net) this book is completely pointless. Lazy lazy lazy.

Very readable

The chapters are clearn and smaller. The content is easily understood and has great case studies. This is one of my top two favorite textbooks in my graduate school studies this far.

Ok so here's the thing, got this right away (cause I love all of ms King's books) and started reading lunch time at work. Bad decision! Devin is so scorching, I had to put the book away till I got to the privacy of my home. I can not wait till Haven and Scott.

I was expecting something good with the next book in the Bioexpa series

Holy moly talk about sitting in a sauna with this book! Man, Ms. King delivers again! I was expecting something good with the next book in the Bioexpa series, but I didn't expect this! Personally, I'm always a sucker for the storylines that cover a person who wants love, and another person who isn't really willing to give it. So, I was pretty excited to read this one. We all know that King always writes pretty steamy intimate scenes, but oh ehm gee....I was like squeezing my thighs the whole time lol....But! Although there was a quite a few sex scenes, it was nice that the WHOLE book was there just for sex scenes. Honestly, it's refreshing to be able to get a good a good storyline along with some good sex scenes...not get some good sex scenes with a mediocre storyline. I'm excited for the next book, and I have a question for you Ms. King! I was thinking about it the other day, in this world would it be a possibility for someone to get matched with another person who already got matched, but their spouse died?

Even Better Than Bioexpa 1

This is the second book I've read by Ms. King. I was introduced to her writing through this series. I have to say that although I enjoyed Bioexpa book 1, I absolutely loved this one even more! There was just something about the H that made me swoon. While Devin seems like an ass at times, he has this sweetness to him and a vulnerability that made my heart melt. All this while still maintaining his man-in-charge attitude. The H and h complimented each other well. I found it refreshing to read a book about issues in a relationship without over-the-top drama. Not to mention the steamy love scenes. Devin was HOT! It's a quick and enjoyable read. You won't regret it.
